10 Signs You’re Finally Healing After A Breakup

If you’ve been unsure if you are on the right path when it comes to your healing journey after a breakup then you need to take a look at the following 10 signs.  You may not have all 10 right now but if you have some of these signs then you are on a great path to rediscovering yourself and healing.

1. You’re Comfortable Spending Time Alone

There is a difference between spending time alone and being comfortable spending time in your own company.  Let me explain.

When my breakup first happened I used to spend a lot of time alone because I was sad and hurt.  It was not something that I had chosen to do willingly.  Now when I spend time alone it makes me genuinely happy.  There’s a feeling of peace in it.

If you don’t dread having to spend time alone and you embrace that time as being yours so that you can reconnect with yourself that’s a really great sign.  That doesn’t mean that you have to spend time in your room speaking to no one, it just means being in your own company.  That could mean enjoying a quiet night in, exploring new hobbies or simply reflecting on your thoughts.  Being happy in this space is a key sign of personal growth.

2. You’re Pursuing New Interests and Hobbies

The more you begin to rediscover yourself, the more you will take an interest in taking up hobbies which reconnect you to the things that you love to do.  You will begin to explore new passions and interests that may have taken a backseat whilst you were in your relationship.

I know that for me, that was definitely the case.  I loved to read and write and I let a lot of that go.  The more I began to heal and find myself again my love for these things was rekindled.  If you are at the beginning of your self-discovery journey exploring passions after your relationship is a great way to go.

3.  You’re Setting Personal Boundaries

If you’ve come out of a messy relationship you may have realised that the boundary lines had become blurred.  Whilst you are on a path to healing you will begin to notice that boundaries are particularly important.

Having boundaries will help you to protect your emotional and mental well-being.  Setting clear boundaries for yourself is a great way to assert your newfound sense of self.

4. You’re Reflecting on What You Want in Life

Reflecting on life is also part of your rediscovery process.  You might begin to think about the different things that you want from life.  That might include personal goals or work goals.  You might even begin thinking about a whole new career change.

By beginning to focus on those things you will start to gain more clarity on who you are and the things that you want from life.

5. You’re Reconnecting with Old Friends and Making New Ones

Often when we go into relationships it causes us to drift away from the friendship that we had and opportunities to make new connections with people. As you begin to rediscover yourself you will naturally begin to rekindle old friendships and expand your social circle.

If you find that you are reaching out to reconnect with friends and establish new friendships this is a healthy sign that you are rebuilding your support system and embracing new experiences.

6. You’re Focusing on Your Health and Wellbeing

If you have begun to focus on your mental, physical and emotional health after a breakup you are on the right path.  Making healthier choices for your life such as choosing to eat better, exercising regularly and practising mindfulness all show that you are prioritising your well-being and investing in your future happiness.

7. You’re Letting Go of Past Regrets

Letting go of past regrets is huge.  Holding on to what could have been only holds up your progress even more.  If you find that you are letting the past go and focusing on what is ahead of you, that means that you are taking steps to finding peace post-relationship and moving forward after your breakup.

Forgiving yourself for any wrongdoings that you may have done and any wrongdoings that your ex may have done will open up the doors for you to release your emotional baggage and explore new possibilities.

8. You’re Embracing Change

A part of being able to rediscover yourself means that you have to embrace change and step outside of your comfort zone. Continue to be open about re-exploring the world and trying new things.

Doing this will give you a much better understanding of who you truly are and what you are capable of.  You will be able to exponentially increase your personal growth journey by doing this.

9.  You’re Confident in Your Independence

A strong sign that you are rediscovering yourself is the fact that you feel comfortable in your independence.  You feel secure in the life decisions that you are making and you are no longer. looking for validation from others.

The confidence that you have in your own ability to navigate life on your own terms is a clear indication that you are rediscovering who you are.

10. You’re Excited About The Future

Being excited about the future is the icing on the cake for me. Once you get to this point you know that everything is going to be okay.  You have new opportunities and new goals in front of you.  These goals align with exactly who you are as a person.

When you get to this point of setting goals post-relationship you know that you are out the other side and it’s a wonderful place to be.
