Where Elegance Meets Thoughtfulness
fafa means Peace in the Ewe tribe of Ghana. The word Peace has been a favourite of mine for a long time. It means a lot to me because I held on to this word through times that were extremely tough.
Over the last few years, I have been broken many times over and Peace was the one thing that I truly longed for. When my marriage of 18 years suddenly ended, I was left feeling alone, depressed, lost, and broken. I spent weeks trying to figure out who I was or who I needed to become. I had no idea. I needed to begin a journey of rediscovery and find myself all over again. It was a painful process.
I spent many nights self-analysing, crying, and being in a complete state of disbelief. I was forced to reimagine the life that I thought I would have and start over again.
When times get tough all we need is peace, a place of peace to be able to heal and think clearly.
fafa is an important part of my journey for many reasons. Firstly, because it was all I craved, and secondly because something beautiful was birthed from a place of brokenness.
I can honestly say there were only 2 things that got me through this very dark period. Firstly, my children whom I love very much. I had to be strong for them. Secondly was my utter love for fragrance.
During this time I would continuously spray myself with fragrance. In fact, it was any time the urge would hit me. I don’t know what it was but knowing that I smelled good made me feel good too. It brought me joy that I can never translate into words.
Today my love for fragrance has continued to grow and has become a beautiful obsession.
